Idle air control (IAC)

Ok ever since my top end buildup I have had a occaisonal idle problem when shifting into gear and when stopped at lights. It does not do it all the time but when it does it drives me crazy. I have been keeping a eye on the IAC position with Autotap and I think thats (IAC) is the problem. When @ idle in park it reads around 80counts or so and when I shift into drive it climbs up to 110counts. The problem is that somtimes it seems to take longer to get to 110 and that causes the rpms to jump. When I shift with no problems it climbs almost instantly to 110 and idles @ 1k in drive. So I guess it would be safe to say its sticking huh? This other guy seems to think its cause I have stock stall and its shocking the motor when shifting into drive. I dont belive that because I think it would do it all the time wouldn't it? Thanks again guys

On a warm engine about 40 counts is a normal reading. Several people have run aftermarket TB's that don't have large enough IAC passages, so they've drilled slightly larger IAC holes to allow more air to pass.

Do a google search for LJ and throttle body, you should find the page with his mods.

Hope this helps,

Like Christian said the IAC count should be lower. Before you go and drill out the IAC passage I would recommend adjusting the set screw on the butterflies. If openning up the butterflies you are able to solve your idle problem, and bring the IAC count down then you could consider drill.
