Lightbulb Idea for True Dual set up

Yes i know this subject has been beaten to death but i took my car to a local muffler shop for prices to run a true dual and when it was on the lift i got an idea. Lets see if i can explain it or if its been done before............

Ok well basically my idea is to put a x pipe(nothing new) then have the two pipes come down the section that was made for the I pipe(also nothing new) but then instead of dumping before the axle or going over them. How about the pass. side goes over the axle(like stock) and the drivers side goes REALLY close under the axle then but up to where the flowmaster muffler now sits and obviously two bullet style mufflers. I looked at the space on the drivers side over the axle and it looks very restrictive and full with brake lines and other stuff i could mess up. So what do you think? Should i go for it?

EDIT: the guy told me to do this is would be 220.00(includes bullet mufflers already)

Someone here has done true duals that both go over the axle. But odds are the pipe that would go under the axle for your setup would get smashed since the rear end will move up and down. I've only seen exhaust pipes go under the rear end if its an IRS setup.

I could be wrong though.

Whats a IRS setup?
Yea the guy told me that most likely my pipe woud get smashed up so thats when i came up with putting the drivers side under the axle

IRS = Independent Rear Suspension... in other words... no axle.

No...if you run the pipe under the axle, it will smash the pipe when the suspension travels downward over a bump or some such road variance.

but if you think about it..........the bottom of the pipe would be around the middle of the rotor(just for referrence) could you imagine how much wheel hop or how high a bump would have to be to travel all the way up to half the rotor? Maybe im completely wrong but just think about it

When the axle moves down on deceleration or hard braking it would hit the exhaust pipe.

Just exit through the sides via ground effects =

I remember that post with the guy who had both his exhaust pipes go over his rear axle.....wonder where he's at? and if he has pics, when Im ready to do an exhaust I'd love to throw duals in there, especially if they can exit thru the rear.

I have had my true duels go under and over the axle. First over, ground clearance is not a problem at all. The only reason I changed was due to the limited travel with the suspension. I never had a problem while driving, but when I wanted to due any maintenance on the rear and I jack up the car, the rear would hang on the exhaust, and eventually broke an exhaust hanger. Got tired of this, and built an exhaust that went over the rear axle. Believe it or not, it sounds better than going under. It took some work in the tight space around it, but have no problems now. The main thing I had to change was the panhard bar. I had to build a new one so the exhaust would clear.
that was Lt1tko5o i am working out a deal with him to get mine done too

I have seen a guy that had true dual exhaust on his f-body. He ran both pipes under the rear axle and had no problems at all. I thought i saw is on this forum. He had some great pictures.
