Iceing The Intake?

Hey guys I am headed to the drag strip tomorrow and I know that I want to ice down my intake before I run it. My question is I was planning on just buying a bag of ice from the gas station on the way there and I was wondering the best way to ice down the intake? Will it be safe to just lay it across the intake even though the bag is going to let water out on the engine? This is my main concern I don't want to get anything wet that shouldn't (aka opti) How do you all ice you intakes? Thanks for the help.

you could use dry ice, but it may cause problems with the rapid cooling and heating of the intake?

umm... id advise against putting dry ice on the intake manifold.
I'd list the reasons why but there is a 10,000 charactor limit

If the intake is going to heat back up that quick how come I have seen so many guys using ice on their intakes? Just curious it seems like the intake won't get hot until the motor is starting to rise to running temp. So you guys wouldn't ice your intakes?

They must like paying for bags of ice I did this once... Then, realized after I waited in line, waited for the other guy to do his massive burnout on his street tires, my car was up to 180 degrees again. If you wanna push your car to the line, then start it, it may help with .0005 of a second. The best deal is to get a low temp thermostat and a fan switch. That will keep the entire engine cool. It only takes a minute or so for me to cool down to closing temp for the thermo if I turn on the fans and the electric WP.

Concentrate your time and money on better things. For the cost of the ice bags over a few weekends, you could buy a low temp thermo.

I crawled under the car right before the burnout box and popped off the serpentine belt and gained 3/10th's Water pump and everything still function, you just don't have a battery
