IAT Sensor "Error Codes??"

Ok...the 94 Z28 was at the shop, a couple days ago, and the mechanic hooked it up to his computer to run the codes, and everything seemed to be working fine he said and that the IAT sensor wasn't bad and working properly, but could it still be causing the Hesitation problem even if in the codes it says it isn't...and running normaly, what im saying is does the computer when hooked up pickup that the IAT isn't working properly.

Thanks

Depends on if the tech just looked for trouble codes or actually monitored what the IAT was sensing. It is possible for it to be giving readings that are not totally accurate and still not cause a trouble code.

Like shoebox said....... If a sensor is dirty , coated with oil grime etc. It could be reading the wrong temp, because the sensor is not getting exposed to the air in the way it should, even though nothing is wrong with the sensor . So the computer does not see anything wrong with the sensor or circuit , because there is not.
The computer is still getting readings from the sensor, it's just that they could be wrong if the sensor is dirty. Which could cause problems in power and driveability, like hesitation , missing, etc.

For instance, if the sensor is dirty, and tells the computer it's 40 degrees outside, when its 89 degrees outside. The fuel and and timing the computer would give the car at 40 degrees is different from what it would need at 89. So you might have too much or too little fuel or timing for a given temperature or condition, which will most likely cause stumble, hesitation, power loss.

For some reason though, sometimes it seems people also don't get codes or SES lights even in cases where there should get one. So you have to pay close to diagnostics for some problems.
