I want to run 12.7

My 96z A4 ran 14.2 @ 98 Stock. I have a new race trans and flowmaster exhaust.wat is the cheapest root to get to those times.

Well, lets think about this.

The race trans was good for about nothing in the 1/4 probably.

The Flowmaster was good for about nothing in the 1/4 probably.

So lets say we add those up, and being optimitic you are at 14.0 at 99.

You want to be at 12.7, so you want to take off over a second from your et, you will need a cam/longtubes or nitrous at least.

Why a 12.7? Anyway, what he said could get you there. I'd recommend longtubes, torque converter, and a little nitrous as a cheap route to mid 12's.

Re: I want to run 12.7

Well I took a stock T/A added a GM Hotcam kit, AS&M headers, 2800 Vigilante, PCM tune, cutot, and some ET streets to go 12.50's@108mph with the stock 4l60e and stock 3.23's@3700lb raceweight. So add that up and start buying parts. I now run 11.20's@120mph N/A but that is a different story. Later Clint

The cheapest route would be N2O.

Re: I want to run 12.7

You can get to it with bolt ons easily, find a Vigi converter, set of 3.73s, Long Tubes, cold air intake, drag radials and skinnies, take some weight out and you should hit 12s. Look at my sig, those 1/8 mile times are with manifolds, stock 3.23s, stock cat on 17s with street tires.

97bblackZ,

He still has a 10 bolt with 3.42s

Re: I want to run 12.7

Im at 12.89 with all the stuff in my sig. If I take addtl weight out( I take only the rear seats, spare, and jack out when I race), I should be in the lower 12,8's. I have an electric water pump ready to go in. So im hoping to loose about 40lbs with new front seats, gain some hp under the curve and maybe hit 12.79 this spring. The WS6 leather seats weigh a TON ! Those boat anchors need to go....All my mods are bolt on stuff with a lot of "budget" , used parts I got here and there.

Go with 373, longtubes, drag radials, and a 125 shot, should get you in the mid/high 12's

Only bolt-ons are needed.

Re: I want to run 12.7

You can get in to the mid 12s with a full bolt on LT1, no need for a cam or nitrous. I have a friend with the same mods as me, sprayed a 100 shot, hit an 11.98.

If you spray a 125 shot with all those bolt ons and run mid/high 12s some thing is wrong with your car. Those mods plus a converter will easily put a LT1 in to some mid 11s.

You'd think but if you read the boards now a days you wouldnt. Your right an auto with a converter, cat back, cold air and set of gears should easily be a 13.0 car. People have hit 12s in the past with those mods.
