I think my clutch is going... got a question
yeah, its not hard, unless you only have 13" of clearance due to imperfect circumstances.... ugh, lifts would be a nice commodity for all, but alas.... still, i think i got a how to guide off of installuniversity.com but its not too hard if you have room to work, i wouldn't pay anyone to do it...
I replaced my ORGINAL clutch in my 94 Camaro in Christmas of '02. Bet you couldnt guess that the clutch lasted 150,000 miles! I bought the car almost a year ago now and it had 145k miles with orignal clutch. It was chattering a little bit when I bought it. I hot rodded it a couple times and smelled the clutch a little bit. After awhile it stopped smelling and just chattered really bad, especially at take off and shifting. When I got the clutch out, I took a look at the flywheel.....I warped that sucker!!!!!! Took it in, it was still good and had it milled and flatened. Put in a RAM HD Clutch (didnt know of any other clutch to get at that time) and The thing is working GREAT! It engages sooooooooo smooothly, the pressure point is right at the floor, I mean right down there. The ride is so much smoother and quieter. Chattering pretty much told me my clutch was close to going bad, I tried the 6th gear thing and just putting the foot down....my clutch popped out and backfired
... I quit hot rodding ever since then and have been easy on my clutch with engaging, but Ive got enough bolt ons to just smash the gas in and peel out while engaged in 1st or 2nd.
