Talking I think my car is running pretty good

89,000 mile unopened LT1 engine

ran a new best of 13.56 @105 this weekend (video in sig). I made 8 passes, 7 were within 13.5 and 13.7x. If that wasnt enough to put a smile on my face i got 19.22 miles per gallon on that tank with very little highway driving!

the car is a 95 6 speed. stock 3.42 gear, and stock tune. Car is purely bolt on. Longtube headers and a spec stage 3 clutch are my biggest mods. Ive had good luck with my spec clutch too, it was consistently laying down rubber in every gear.

here's another pass later that day where you can actually hear my car:

Sounds like a strong running LT1. How are you on keeping up on maintenance? I tend to think most people fail to keep up on the stupid little stuff then complain about their times.

I totally agree with you. really i havent had any problems with the car that werent quick fixes. Ill have owned it 4 years by the end of this month. But I think i spend about as much time maintaining and cleaning the car as i do driving it. Its in near perfect shape for its age and mileage, people dont believe me that the paint is original

also my best 60 of the day was only a 2.1 ... is that OK or should I not expect any better than that on street tires?

I had my car up there about a month ago.

the only other major thing i have is subframe connectors. I dont think a valvecover has even been off of my engine yet. My exhaust setup is coated pacesetters with a 2.5" custom y-pipe (no cats), 3" e-cutout (open), and an SLP 2OTL catback. TB bypass is done, and i also have a LT4 KM, but really i cant think of anything else. CAI is a given.

and yea lapeer is the closest track to me. its pretty low-end but its a good place to practice. little to no waiting in line.

Good times, with that trap the car should run high 12s with a better 60ft!

Yes there have been many, there was a tread a few years back with all the bolt-on guys in it with their times, I'll try looking for it...

But as stated above with that MPH you should be in the high 12's if you get your 60' down, I remember getting down to a 12.7xx when I was running close to 105 MPH...

BTW, Shon's 11.7 bolt-on LT1 record was in an M6 car...

I was on the limits of my traction that day, but im afraid to run a stickier tire with my clutch. Im putting rubber down in 4th consistently, i think id break the 10 bolt on a shift with anything more.

nice job! people are all too quick to think that you need to pull the stock engine apart and put higher performance stuff in to go fast. I've outrun a few heads and cam and even stroker cars with my heavy bolt-on car
