Yeah I would say you messed up with 18's. I noticed traction problems going to a 17. At least the make DR's for 17'' rims though.

All i now is i lost 1 mile per hour when i went from 16's to 17's. But my car looks a lot nicer from going to salad shooters to ZR-1's. In my opinion its worth it.

Scrap the 18s if you want a real sticky tire for cheap. You could always go with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercars that come on Z06 Corvettes.....about $450 each.

Sweet! Can i watch?

As for the 17in's int he front and using 16in's in the back, just ffind 2 more cheap salad shooters with some worn tires on them. Here in IL the going rate is like 50 a pair for those puppies. Even seen them at 40 a pair

At one time, Nitto showed a 305/45-18 drag radial on their website, but it isn't there any more. That tire has a 28.8" outside diameter.... you better be running 4.56's, and have a can opener for the fenders........ .

I think they were designed for the lightning trucks.

I believe putting 18's on is for show only. If you want to drag race, put 16's with some slicks. You WILL get better times, you WILL pay less for 16 inch slicks, and you WILL NOT run off as many bridges.

you guys dont like driving off bridges? but Vin Diesel did it in XXX!!
i found the 305 Nittos, thats prob the way im gonna go.

the main reason i put the 18s on is cause they where on the vette before we got HRE 540s for it. trickle down economics or the sh*t rolls downhill effect. the magnesiums are like $2500 rims , so why not use em.

i just didnt think about it before i decided to put in cam headers and true duals. im gonna need some traction!

thanks all

Chris

I found some 18" tires that are real nice and sticky for the street. Lookup the Toyo T1-S. You can fill the rear up real well with a 285/50/18. As far as fronts, I have 17x9.5, Toyo T1-S, 255/50/17. AAA Rated.

If you drag on them, they will not last you long at all. So instead of paying $300 per rear tire every 1-2 months, I got myself some 15" M/T E.T's.

Of course they fit on my Centerline Warriors real nice.

My $.02
