I noticed that after driving for a while when I come to a stop I smell gas . I don't know if it's because my car is running rich or what. I don't see any fuel leaks anywhere so I was just wondering if anyone else has the same situation . it's not an overpowering smell it's just noticeable. any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. thanks..

Is the smell strongest by the driver side rear quarter panel?

 

I couldn't really say, I smell it most on the driver side when i have my window down.

 

It's probably from the EVAP canister, but I would double check to make sure you don't have a fuel leak.

 

One other thing to check is the gas cap, I had a fuel smell and it was coming from the gas cap (rubber O ring was coming apart)

 

It's not my gas cap and I don't see any leaks. any more suggestions.
could it be comming from the exhaust ,because it smells like evaporated fuel and it's not constant . like when I get into my car for the first time in the morning I don't smell gass. It usually comes after driving .and I smell it most when i'm stopped. anyones help is appriciated .. thanks!

if you dont smell it on initial start up i would say its not in your exhaust. Usually when you start a car up you will smell it in the exhaust pretty good if you are running rich or just because. I know i smell it in my exhaust because of my cam.

 

i have the same problem from time to time. i think it is my car running rich. it usually comes up from under the car. i also had a problem with my gas cap comming unscrewed. i would fill it up and put it on untill it clicked and then take off. awhile later i would have gas down the side of my rear quarter. i would check it and the cap was loose. so i would retighten. so now i dont completely fill it up. i am goping to have a friend that works at a local chevy dealer look into a new cap for me.

 

is this the canister that is behind the plastic inner quarter panel, panel? I have this same issue, and Im not sure if its that, or my gas cap

 

I don't smell fuel when I get in my car, but I do after I start it .
