I need tourque converter help
Which brand, stall should I go with. What are the variables involved in buying one.I don't want to regret getting the 2800 or regret getting the 3600.I want to buy what I need now and for the future.
You should call the company and tell them what your mods are. Then tell them what you are planing on doing . They will tell you what is best. I know some people were having trouble with there trans not shifting properly after installing a 3000 RPM converter. Talk to the people who build them and know. Just my .02

The odd transmission shifting problem is for OBD-I cars, only. Your OBD-II car should be fine with whatever you want to run. My car drivetrain is 100% stock and I installed a 3200 Vigilante made by Precision Industries. The reason I went so big is because I plan on putting a hotcam kit in the car soon. It's fun to drive with it, but the gas mileage thing sucks. B&M recommeds going with a stall rating 400-700rpm below your engine's torque peak, but on the LT-1, that would be a 2200 stall. I keep hearing great things about the Yank coverters, so I would look into those.
5H9DOW,
I would go with a 3500 stall speed if I were you. With your 4.10 gears it will be very streetable and a blast to drive. I'm not here to sell our converters, but to let you know what to expect. We installed a 3500 in a '97 Z. It dropped the 60' from 2.0 to 1.6 secs. The ET dropped from 13.4 to 12.8. A 3000 stall would probably be worth .3-.4 through the quarter. I would go for the gusto with the 3500, you won't regret it.
