Question I need taller valve covers???

In the process of repairs and one repair i need to make is to change the valve covers....They were a main problem in the installation of new 1.6 rr's and new valave springs...The height difference cause them to knock on valve cover (shop installed) and then inevitably the rocker and pushrod on #8 gave..shotting the push rod off and down.....what a mess....but it was alll because it was htting the valve cover..is this the reason.OR MAYBE IMPROPER INSTALLATION OF RR'S......DO THEY MAKE TALLER VALVE COVERS....

You can get taller covers, but some require some attention because they do not clear the alternator. LT4 valve covers will fit without a problem, but will cost you ~$200 with all necessary pieces.

Just cut the inner supports of the valve covers, should only take a few minutes. I did that to mine in order for my 1.6's to clear.

If he is really having problems with them hitting the top of the cover, cutting the supports is not going to help.

GMPP aluminum covers. There's pictures on my web site.

BTW, are they self aligning or NSA rockers? If they're NSA, are you sure you've got the right guide plates. Standard SBC plates won't work on LT1's.

Oh by the way to some...i did cut the baffles in the valve covers..and it did not help..its the hieght of valve covers.....and i have heard that some people are ok and some people have problems with height.......

so far 5,000 miles of daily driving without incident.

good luck
