i need some opinions.

i have a 94 z28 a4 k&n and slowmasters ok i know a guy who builds lt1 motors i told him i want at least 400 hp to the wheels and the max i will spend on performance is $6000.

he said for $6000 i can get you to 400 hp at the wheels parts and labor included. is that a good deal? i thought with 6000 i could go above and beyond 400hp to me 6000 is high for only 400hp but maby thats just me. he didnt say what brand of parts or what mods he would do exactly but he did mention geting my heads ported, custom cam, and 52 tb, and he started to go on and then stopped and was like yeah for 6000 i can get you 400hp to your wheels.

what do you think?

I personally would do all the bolt ons myself save the coin for some good ported heads and cam. Might be more than 6000 if you factor in all the supporting suspension mods.

Is it a six speed or automatic, makes a big difference.

You need:
headers
Catback
OR Y Pipe
cam
Ported heads with correct springs, locks, retainers
Roller rockers
30lb injectors
Plugs and wires
throttle body
Timing chain
Gasket set
Tune(preferably on a dyno)
-----------------------------------------------------------
After its running:
Clutch if its a six speed
Converter if its an auto
Shortly after that a built 4L60E if its an auto.
12 bolt if its a six speed.

Your 6 grand got sucked up QUICK.

A properly built up combo running 400 at the wheels can easily cost you 6 thousand once everything is said and done. I would get the specifics of what he plans on doing to the heads and what kind of cam he plans on running. You don't want to fork over that kind of money only to fall short of your goals and be dissappointed.

6000.00 put an LS! in it you will be happier I am not putting any more money in my LT1, it is going to get converted to the dreaded lsx engine and for 6 grand I would have a beast, trust me on this. Now let the flamers attack
