i need some help removing my center console

my girlfriend was driving my car the other day,and we pulled in front of her mom's house, and she pulled up the e-brake,after we stopped, and something messed up,now,it wont come up,its in the down position, and try to pull it up,it is very tight, anyone have any problem with this?maybe a recall,or what else could it be?i tried to take the console out,but it looks like i need to have the e brake up,to get it fully off,is this true?or there some way i can un screw the e-brake handle or something,i cant get it up far enough to see whats wrong under there, any help is greatly appreciated, thanks alot.

I think I solved your problem with the first 9 words in your sentence my girlfriend was driving my car the other day

Yea you do have to have the e-brake up to get the console off.. Look in the little rubber molding around the e-brake and make sure nothing is wedging it...

On mine (94) look for a little screw that holds the handle and button on. Unscrew this and both will come off, leaving you with just the steel ebrake lever. Make sure you keep the spring that comes off. Loosen the entire console, and have someone hold up as hard as they can on the lever. Mine was really tight, and I swore alot, but I could finally slide the console up over the lever.
