I need some help with this one?
I pulled my tranny out today...you know about my problem with her stuck in 1st gear.
As I pulled out the Slave Cylinder I notice that that plastic retainer thing snapped and the Rod was cocked to one side. Shoule I worry about that? If I remove the retainer tab on the other side should I be allright? It's a brand new Hydro system...I ha ve no idea why the rod retainer snapped....
aside from that when I got further into the bell housing...I saw that my Clutch fork was loose....I mean extremely loose...I could wiggle it around...back and fourth up and down and all around...it had alot! of play in it...like the bolt wasn't in tight enough... It was locked onto the throwout bearing though...so it had to be the bolt...when I took the tranny out from the bell housing all I did was just slide the fork down and pull the tranny back... I'm just wondering is that reason enough for my car to be stuck in 1st gear?
I'm going to pull the case off tommorrow to inspect the shift rail and misc. Crap. I have no idea what to look for since I've never done tranny work before...but atleast I know where to look.
I do know that that little Clutch fork issue played a big role in my disengagement problems....aside from my worn flywheel...But I'm just worried about not having any shifter response in 1-2 gear and being locked out all other gears while driving....what does it sound like it might be?

ive come across the same problem myself. I believe that that ring is ment to snap on one side, and possibly both after the unit is installed. i dont think you have anything to worry about. both of my straps are broken off, so i think youll be alright.
The clutch fork should be rivited in place. If it has been removed then there should be a bolt holding it in place, make sure the bolt is tight and you should be alright. Mine was pretty loose as well so I wouldn't worry about it too much. It needs to be somewhat loose so that you can get it on the TOB.
If your trans is stuck in first gear it sounds to me like a bent shift fork.
