Exactly what he says. My '96 will not fire up with the MAF unplugged. I unplugged it one day to test some stuff and it would not start until I plugged it back up.
My 96 won't start with the MAF unplugged either.

Yep, this happened with a guy only a week or so ago He was convinced he'd installed it correctly. He even posted that the Opti can't be installed wrong!

After MANY posts he finally got around to checking it and found he'd installed it 180 degrees out. BINGO!!

I can't recall if it was on this Forum or LS1LT1.com

Any idea how old the opti is that's on the car? When I got my car out of storage a few years back, we had to replace all kinds of stuff to get it running. Before we replaced the opti, it would idle & rev pretty well, but under any kind of load you would have sworn the car was going to explode. If your opti is the factory original, you might want to inspect in closely and see what kind of shape it's in.
