I would guess wrong plug wires and then installed incorrectly wich has been said already. Loose plug wires or your home made wire could be it also. Check for any loose connections that you removed and replaced.

did you line up that little pin and get it into the opti right. Ive done maybe 8 swaps of these, it can be fun, but not that bad

What year is your car? People are already asking you about the "little pin" without even knowing what year the engine is.

If you took out the AIR pump, and the fuse, you should have a code. How are you checking for codes?

Why not add a "signature", with basic info about your car like year, model, trans type and any major mods?

Eventually, you might want to check the Opti. I'd estimate that about 10% of the installs on the 93/94 unvented Opti's are done incorrectly. In virtually every case, the individual was sure it was installed correctly. Something to check if all else fails.

No, you can't flash the codes on the SES light in your 94. 93 was the last year you could flash the codes on the SES light, by shorting the ALDL pins (Shoebox has the procedure on his website, but it isn't going to help you). For 94 and up, you need a real scanner (not the $30 Actron that says it works with 94's, but does not, since all it does is short the pins on the ALDL). Look for a used Auto X-Ray OBD-I on eBay or similar. Or if you have a laptop, get a cable from AKM Electronics, and download FreeScan (free) or TTS DataMaster (free for first 20 uses) to scan the PCM for codes, and to give you access to the sensor readings, PCM parameters, etc.

check for vaccuum leaks

I had a couple bad vaccuum leaks and mine would crank and start idleing up and down like a big cam except slower. Not sure about the Air pump though. But i do know the vacuum leaks will have a similar effect. Good luck

If you opti went on like mine I don't see anyway you could have done it wrong unless you forced the splines on which i doubt u did.

AKM electronics tells you how to wire up the aldl. You'll need your black/white diagnostic wire, tan serial data wire, and ground from the pcm. Chasis ground won't work has to be pcm ground
