Exclamation i need help and i dont know where to start

Well, first off... i am the proud owner of a stock 94 z28 with the LT1 350. it has around 172,000 miles on it, and i've only had it since june of '07. I love this car, however... i have recently encountered an issue. about a week or two ago i began having issues with getting it to start if i let it set for a few days... it would turn over but only to choke, puke, and die again after i let go of the key... when i drove it on a regular basis, it was fine... no problem right? well i was wrong... wednesday i was driving down the road at about 40 mph when it suddenly and for no apparent reason died... after about ten to fifteen minutes of cranking on it and doing the choke and puke thing again it finally started. when i went to give it a little gas i found out to my own dismay that it just bogged down and died... well after repeating the starting and dieing process a few times i could only step on the gas with only slight pressure anything more than just my big toe would kill it. A friend recommended to change the fuel filter and see if that was the problem... nope that wasnt it... the motor is getting fuel but only to spit and sputter off of when i let off the key any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... keep in mind i dont have much money right now so i cant just go out and throw a bunch of parts at it and pray it works... lol... anyone ever have this problem before? please help!

If it were me I would start by checking the coil first. I would then check the rest of ignition, and then work to fuel pressure and fuel system.

For starters, I would test the following:

Fuel pressure

Coil

Opti

Good luck.

My uncles high mileage lt1 had a problem like this. ended up being a plugged cat - if the coil/fuel pressure/etc turn out fine... check out that exhaust!

I had mine act funny on my LT1 where it would only start sometimes. It finally went out completely and never fired again. Sometimes letting it sit in between starts helped, but not always promised it would start again.

Doesnt sound like a cat, if it was the cat if would start after sitting for a little while then cut out later.

Like the guy above stated, check the fuel presure and opti and coil first then report back
