I need help...anybody here?

How do you know when the opti spark is dead? My car busted a hose that ran by the TB. I mean there was alot of steam but I didnt run it to hot. I killed the car for about 30 min to allow it to cool. I then cut the hose and reclamped it. Now the car will not crank. I tested the coil wire by sticking a screwdriver in the coil wire and touching it to the block and it didn't spark. Is there something that I'm overlooking? HELP!!

Well.. The coil feeds the opti, so if there is no spark at the coil, its probably somewhere before the opti at this point..

Im actually wondering if you fried your Ignition Control Module (ICM) If you did, its a pretty easy fix and cheap insurance even if it is still ok. Its the thing that is mounted right under the coil up against the head. Check that, and all your fuses and so on.

Good luck!

I unplugged the wires above the coil and tested them for power and the 2 of the 4 connectors are showing power. I do not see a plug beneath the coil. Where is this ICM and how do I test it? This all happened at the same time as my hose busting and spraying everything under the hood.

The ignition control module is under the coil on the bracket with it. It looks like a heat sink. Don't know how to test it but it is unlikely it would have gone bad from getting wet when the hose broke.

OK I used a 12 volt test light and checked the coil wire while turning the engine over and got no flashing light or any sign of spark. I went and bought a new coil ( only 27.00 ) and replaced the MSD coil. The car is still not sparking. I also removed a spark plug (#3) to examine their condition. The gap was .045-.050 but the plug looked pretty good.

I replaced the plugs, opti, water pump and cables 10 k miles ago with the new engine.

I forgot to mention that 2-3 weeks ago I could see my coil wire arching at night and the #3 plug wire was also arching at the boot. This caused the engine to miss and have a rough Idle. I then replaced the already new cables again last week.

I do not have a fuel pressure tester/gauge but I opened the pressure valve and fuel was at least getting to the fuel rails.

And finally I tested the #3 plug wire coming from the opti to the grounded plug and no spark. I did get the **** zapped out of me while holding the coil wire from the coil with a spark plug in the other end . I was in pain but just happy to see it actually do something.
I am reading over the electrical connectors locations and plan on testing them next. Any suggestions on where to begin?
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Well I was reading on how to test all the connectors we my dad showed up with the voltage meter. He said, "put everything back together and let me see what it is doing or not doing". This time the car cranked up almost immediately. It surged rpms, spit and spudder until it started running fine. I guess the Opti got wet and needed to dry out. I give up...
