I may have a broken tranny mount?

Well I have been chasing down a rattle ever since I got the car last spring. There is a fast but loud clunking under the center console at cruising speeds and when I hit a bump. I have been under the car a million times and would geuss that this is my problem. Where can I get the 1LE mount. I hear the ES one isn't the best coice and I would rather take a little step up from stock seeing as my car only has 45k miles on it and it broke.

You should be able to get the 1LE tranny mount from any GM dealership.

Ok that is what I thought. I have a GM number from gmpartsdirect but not sure if it is a 1LE or stock. Is the 1LE the best or would one from BMR or ES be better. I don't really mind vibrations just as long as they are not excessive. Also I have read through my search that if the shifter does not come up hard on acceleration than your torque arm bolt is loose or the mount there is bad. Should I replace that as well?

I just got an Energy Suspension mount from jegs for about 20$. It made a huge difference, feels like it tied the whole car together!

Do NOT get a poly tranny mount unless you want 100 new rattles. I just took mine out yesterday after only being in for a few days.

Ive had my poly mount in for over a week. No new rattles. The car is quieter, tighter, and feels much better than the car did when the factory mount was good.

I have the es mount and I think it is just fine. I had the tranny built and broke the stock mount so I figured there was no since in putting a rubber mount back in, (which I believe the 1LE mount is rubber I could be wrong) so I went with the poly mount. Plus the es mount has a safety interlock in it so that on the remote chance that you could possibly break a poly mount then it will still hold together due to the metal piece that is running through the center.

Yep,

Just picked up the ES Mount myself, sitting in box with new front breaks, just waiting to put it in, the safety feature of hte ES mount is great, if it breaks, it will lock in and help from doing more damage than the stock rubber.as many others have said.....they usually replace, and replace, and replace the stock one,

Well I have heard as many good things as bad about the ES mount. I am also confused about the 1LE one. gmpartsdirect has a pn for the "Z28" one and it is 24 bucks and does not say it is an 1LE application. I took that part number to my local GM deal parts distributor and they said they could sell it to me for 70 and they say their 1Le pn matched gm partsdirect even though it is not listed as that. What I am getting at is that I do not want a stock replacment. How is BMR and or Spohn? Do they cause rattles. Why do some poepl get rattles and others don't. Is it because of that lock down plate?

I love my polly mount, but there is the rattle (on mine anyway). It feels like more low frequency vibrations are transmitted than with the rubber mount (duh).

When I first mounted mine and drove around for a while, the drive train noise was something obnoxious. I jacked the hoopdie up, loosened the ceneter bolt and retightened it with another washer on the outside and little bits of shop rag (ghetto I know, but an cheap way to test if I could deaden the noise) between the mount and the cross member. Maybe 1/32" thick when smashed down by the mount. I have much less drive train noise.

I am going to find some hard "paper" or rubberized washers at the hardware/autoparts store and throw one in there to replace the rags. Even if the washer fails, I won't end up with as much play as a hosed rubber mount.

Does nayone know if the 1LE has the safety pin inside like the ES unit does. Or even better does anyone have a part number for thier 1LE so that I can varify if the one my dealer/gm parts direct. told me is correct.

See this is what I was afraid of. The stock one and 1LE one apparently have the same part number from my research today. gmpartsdirect gave me a stock number and then the dealer said the 1LE had the same number. I was hoping that someone would have an actual part number difference between the two. I really want to change this out by the next day or two before I have to drive the car any serious distance.

I was under the impression that the original Camaro tranny mount had been discontinued, and that all GM tranny mounts are now the 1LE version.
