I keep trying and something is still wrong!!!

I guess I need to just calm down and think... But I really do need some advice. Here is the shot story.. About three months ago I installed a set of Hooker Shorty headers, y-pipe and I gutted my cat.

The car just didn't run correctly. It ran really rich and had (I mean this too) no torque down low. I mean to the point where it wont even turn the tires over.

I had PCMforless reprogram the computer and the drivability problems are now fixed, but it still feels like a DOG!

I am going to re-install a Cat Converter and hopefully I can correct the problem... Could this be something else? I ask this ony because the car ran awesome before I put the headers on.

Here is my only other question and I know you all will probably laugh at me, but when I did the install I only replaced the drivers side spark plug wires. (Okay laugh now) I did replaced all 8 plugs as well as wrap the old and new wires in earls flame wrap.

What do you all think? I am really beginning to get agrivated because I just want the car to run the way it once did!

In conclusion I am going to reinstall a Cat. What else do you think I should do and or look at?

Thank you

Dustin

Any codes?
Check for loose plugs?
Check for arcing wires in the dark?
Any leaks?
O2 sensors tight?
How many miles on them?
Check for burnt plug wires or o2 wires?
What drivability problems?
Why only replace 4 wires?
Do you have anyway to see what the sensors are doing (scanmaster, freescan, auto xray, ect.)?

36k miles on my car and no codes and or SES lights. I am going to check the wires and make sure they are all secure and not touching and or burnt. The 02 sensors are stock and have not been replaced. They are however tight and installed correctly. I do not have a scanmaster or anything else to scan my car. Yeah the 4 plug wires, well I quite frankly didn;t know how to get the passenger side off. I now know to remove the three bolts on the power steering pump.

The car does not have any true drivability problems. It use to be really rough and bumpy. It would back fire and just in general it drove very rough. It now idles very smoothly at 900rpm in gear when cold and just about 600rpm when warm and in gear. I have noticed that the raw fuel smell is gone so that is a plus. I just cant figure out why the car feels like it has no power what so ever. Its hard to explain, but I punch the gas and NOTHING! it feels like it takes a long time to get through first gear as well.

Thank you for the responses

Dustin

If i was you i'd replace the other 4 plugs wires..yes they are a pain but you can take off your alt. for some more room... and try gouing from under the car to get the 6 and 8 wires on. Make sure your plugs are gapped right too. Also check little stuff like , any wires loose or disconnected or any vaccum tubes off. Stuff like that... It can be the little things that you forget and they make a big difference

The best way to figure out the problem is to get a hold of a scanner if you can. Instead of just guessing what the problem may be, you can actually check out all the sensor values and the #'s will tell you if something isn't right. The scanner I bought has definitely been one of my best investments.
