I have Lisa Frank oil
All my oil sparkles and shines. Oh my it is so pretty. And I am so sad. Guess we can take bets on cam/crank bearings....
Happened at the track. Pulled my all time best of 12.8 @ 110 with street tires and stock heads. Second pass it lost a few mph. Third pass it died @ 5k rpms into 3rd.
I have heard of people driving their cars for several weeks / months with spun bearings before rebuilding. I had fairly low (10-15) oil preasure at idle. We drained it and put some 20w-50 in and now it has 40 psi at idle I don't plan on daily driving it or anything, but could I really do much more damage than what is already done if I limp it 30 miles to a friends garage. Winter is coming and I don't want to tear it appart in my driveway. I figure if its a cam bearing, the cam is already shot. If its the crank I have a stock crank available that I could polish and reuse. I love my cc306, and would have to buy new springs to go to a bigger cam.
Hoping to do a budget rebuild that can be "safe" to 6500 and hold 200 or so shot.
Plans for uber cheap rebuild as of now.
-Summit .30 over rebuild kit
-Stock crank
-Haven't decided on rods, don't know if its worth the money for h beams on stock crank - 5.75, 5.85, 6"??? Which ones
-Want to at least stud the mains, but have heard people have problems with stock windage tray clearing the studs.
-Guess I don't have any real questions right now. Just looking for comments/suggestions. Guess I will know where to start once everything is torn down and looked at.
