i got ia sticking lifter i think ?

i got ia sticking lifter i think ?

i think i have a lifter sticking one day just got in and it was ticking and thenafter about five mins of driving it local mechanic said to use seafoam but it did not rally cure it our does it take a long time to work drove maybe 20 miles since then but be for i used some of that stuff in my oil to slow an oil leak it is like hoeny but then i changed my oil and i dont drive the car much maybe once evey 2 weeks but then i changedd it but would that *** up those lifters i need some advice and how much on average does it cost to have new lifters put in thanks for any help you can give me kc

I'd guess labor alone would cost about 3 or 4 hundred. Full set of lifters are only about $100.

I talk to so many of these old timer mechanics that tell you to put this and that into your oil. They are used to working on beat up old cars, I wouldn't put anything into your oil except oil itself. People say put paint thinner in for this and that etc.. It probably does more harm than good.

Marvel Mystery Oil still works even 45 years later. Yes I AM an old timer.
Chanches are they just need adjusting correctly.

Maybe I'm an idiot... but how do you adjust lifters? Are you all referring to adjusting the valve lash?

just never heard of valve lash adjustment being called "lifter" adjustment

Really it isn't but on a hyd ya got a "0" lash which is nothing so it preloads the lifter. Mech roller has a pre determined lash that is set with a feeler gage or dial indicator lash is set up by the manufacturer.
