i give up - car still wont start- anyone please!!!
okay - ive just about given up - Please if anyone has any ideas , im supposed to drive back to CT on sat- and she still wont start-
History: hit lightpole with car - 5mph enough to cave in front bumper- after that car had erratic idle- when started would idle high, low or just right and if i restarted car it would correct itself- so i decided to build the engine while she was being worked on-
Parts installed:
CC XE 230/236 112 LSA cam
Comp Cams 26918-16 beehive springs
Comp Cams 787-16 retainers
Comp Cams 601-16 valve locks
Comp Pro Magnum 1.6 rocker arms
ARP 7/16" studs
AFR guide plates
Comp Cam hardened Pushrods
LT4 timing chain
Powdercoated intake manifold and alternator and brackets
Car fired right up after install- just had a high idle (due to cam) so i drove car home- noticed alternator wasnt charging. got home started her up few times and it was perfect- then went for a ride around parking lot and she started stuttering, wouldnt hold idle and stalled few times.
Pop hood to find coolant line broke and dumped on opti - Cut hose out and replaced- Car would start but wouldnt really idle and die. Battery then died- (figured the no idle was due to weak battery) so i got a brand new alternator and brand new battery - slapped them in and tried start car.
She cranks but wont fire. Check plug wires and they are getting an orange and sometimes blue consitant spark. Fuel pump is kicking on and i have 3/4 tank. try spraying starter fluid into intake, she almost turns over but then just keeps cranking,
got my madz tune in - bolt that up and still same thing-

Today, just tore whole front end apart again- installed brand new opti (got for free thanks to good friend who had spare new one)- made sure she seated nicely- installed new ignition coil- checked all wires and vacum lines and everything is hooked up- no leaks anywhere- went to start car and she still just cranks and wont turn over
What else could it be? valve lash too tight? (car ran fine before then just suddenly wouldnt idle and die) ive run out of ideas and i NEED to get this car running... any help

okay - more im reading the more it sounds like it could be valvelash- when we set them it was our first time- so we read some write ups and basically we got to zero lash with each cylinder on TDC and then tightened 1/2 turn farther-
maybe that was a bit too much ? but car ran fine for about 15 miles - then it started giving me troubles... any ideas

I'd check the spark plugs. If those are all fouled put a new set in and try adjusting your valve lash again. The easiest method is with the car running but it is messier.
