Re: worth it ?

Yes it's worth it. I don't see how you've gotten by this long with the stock steel "vibeshaft".

Re: worth it ?

Its very worth it.

It does in fact give power gains in most situations. The less rotating mass the better. One test showed something like 2hp/5tq at the wheels. Not bad especially if its free.

Re: worth it ?

I would just stick to an alum unit.

Re: worth it ?

Once you get enough power it will eventually buckle, same with the alluminum ones. Personally I favor steel, no one is going to be under my car to see the shiny alluminum anyhow.

Re: worth it ?

Even the aluminum shafts are plenty strong for all but the heavily modified cars.

Re: worth it ?

Take the Aluminum for free. You wont make enough power to break it until about 3 grand from now

Re: worth it ?

Reducing rotating mass whenever possible is always a good thing, but a secondary benefit of having a carbon fiber driveshaft is that if you're running a max effort vehicle, where the possibility of a driveshaft breakage is higher than normal, the carbon fiber piece will just shatter and leave a bunch've strands of fiber, whereas an aluminum or steel shaft runs the risk of puncturing the floorboard or possibly even launching the car into the air.

Whether you'd actually consider owning this to be worth or not is after you'd maxed out your motor and reduced weight in every other area possible but you were still concerned that having an aluminum driveshaft and a driveshaft loop for safety were adding just enough weight to prevent you from shaving that last 1/10th off your quarter mile.
