I degreased my engine and now it's squealing and I don't think it's the belt!
I sprayed belt dressing on the belt and the squeal only goes away while I'm spraying it. Once I stop spraying it, it comer right back. The belt looks good too.
I took the belt off and spun the pulleys by hand. The alternator pulley has a quiet squeak when I turn it. Could the degreaser have ruined the alternator?

If the sound goes away when belt dressing is applied, it's most likely your belt. I had the same issue and the belt didn't look bad; replaced the belt and the squeal was gone.

I had the same prob as you once, my belt would squeak, sprayed some dressing on it and it'd go away and then it'd be back a minute later. even with my belt being new. i replaced my tensioner and its never squeaked again.
