I couldnt be more pissed

This is my first post here, and its ashame that its gonna be a post like this. I just bought my 97 z28 annv edition tonight. 50k miles. When I took it for a test drive it ran very well. Well after picking the car up tonight..and a little bit of driving, I hit the gas..its an A4 by the way, It goes into passing gear, and I hear this horrible noise and banging underneath the car. It drives fine with normal acceleration, but when hitting it hard, it makes this noise and bang. The mechanic up the street told me it is probably the transmission mount. He says it must have broke, and the transmission is banging underneath, when the gas is hit hard. Any other suggestions or reasons? thanks and sorry for this being long

Very minor problem if it's the tranny mount. No need to fret.

Just be happy that is the only problem you had. My story was a lot worse. My car had 50,200 when i bought it. On the way home the clutch went out on me. Also i coudn't get it smogged for a whole month and a half after i bought it because i coudn't get the ses light to go away because of misfire issues. I spent a little over $1300 on the car before i even got to drive it. So just be happy.

At the bare minimum I would recommend getting a 1LE mount from SLP. Last time I checked they were only $20, My car chewed though 2 cheapie mounts while waiting for the SLP one to get here. the 1LE mount usually last about a year for me.

I think they quit selling those a while back.

Something I don't understand is going on if people keep breaking tranny mounts. I have always used the original stock tranny mount. It never broke, even with 5K launches on a M6 car with over 700rwhp.

So get a stocker and be happy.

do you have an A/M Tq arm? that moves the TA mount to the floor of the car?

I believe it was months ago when they ran out of old stock. The latest replacement mount GM sells is listed for regular and 1LE and is said to be more like the regular mount. I have heard that people now buy the stronger LS1 mount instead, but it comes in versions for A4 and M6 (no part numbers close at hand).
