ok here is the deal.....i have a miss at idle and stumbling when i accelerate. on the free way just cruising it is fine. i also get some backfireing and in hard accel somtimes the engine acts like i am sprayin it has a power band like somthing kicked on. the WHOLE ignition system is new, so its not that. last night i was checking for arking wires and we noticed that the third cylinder back on the passangers side (i think it is cyl 5) the manifold is getting red hot. Today i punched that cat out to elimanate that.....nothing. The only think i can think of is possibly an injector going bad. Is it possible that an injector is leaning bad enough to make the manifold slightly red hot? and other ideas................help please!

 

3rd one back on pass side is #6, and glowing can also be caused by running rich, so a bad/leaking/stuck open injector is a real possibility,
with the engine off, unbolt and raise the fuel rail up off the intake, turn the key "on"(do NOT start engine) and look at the injectors, see if any are driping(leaking) or spraying(stuck open)

 

So too will a bad exhaust valve such as a misadjusted one or burnt or carbon stuck under one. If you don't see any injector problems. Try doing a leak down test.

I noticed you have 1.6's. Who adjusted them?
