And for the last four years I have been reading about folks who buy the reman distributors and have them fail because all the remanufacturers replace is the cap and rotor. What gives?
When I installed my new GM opti, the car ran great. So it should. A spark is a spark, and when it happens at the right time, and the PCM is happy, what more can you want?
Only something like 2 percent of the opticals ever fail. Also, Delteq is supposedly finishing up on an Opti free version.

The bearing in the opti can wear out also. I'd just replace the opti. It's not like it's all that hard to do, and a heck of a lot cheaper.

I installed mine as per the instructions and it states to install the studs first and then the Opti box. My Opti box is not touching the cylinder head, there is about 1/2 inch gap.

Bearing failures in Optis are not uncommon, everything goes bad sooner or later. Optical pickup failures are rare and many of those are caused by bearing failures. While the Delteq is not a perfect fix yet (have to wait for their Opti free unit to arrive). I know of way too many of you that have installed Opti unit after Opti unit. My car had 105k on the original Opti and it was starting to run like crap. Even before this it was common for the car to quit if I ran through a deep puddle or encountered pouring rain. After the Delteq was installed the car is now completely impervoius to ran and puddles and runs better than it ever has.

I would buy a Delteq agian in a second!

Re: I am a believer!! (DELTEQ)

i had a bad opti that was causing 2 misses at about 52-5300rpm (you could hear it rattle when it was off the car 2 different times LOL), i pulled that out too replace with a used opti from a friend of mine that worked when he pulled it about 8 months ago (i know, i know but i only payed $50 for it and now i have 2 mufflers that covered the price of the used opti that didnt work), well after installing the used opti, the car would not start at all. all it would do was pop and backfire but no fire. i knew exactly what the problem was, it was the opti. i knew i installed correctly. i came to the conclusion that the cap and rotor part of the opti had gotten corroded since it sat for so long in his garage without cover or being sealed up from the elements. i had a decision, to order a new opti or by the DELTEQ setup, i chose DELTEQ! that bad opti (the used one from my friend) is still on the car and the DELTEQ is controlling it

i didnt space the opti-box off of the head tho, i will have to get back in there and do that asap

Delteq is awsome. I was having a miss before I put it on my car, and it took care of it. Well worth the money IMHO.

Studs? Well I must've not received those because I've got self tapping screws galore. You aren't talking about the studs that held the ignition module are you? If that's the case I can't use them since I missing one and it was replaced w/ just a bolt. ARGH! Got any pics so I can see how it looks?

Yeah I read an article in GM HiTech magazine about and was wondering if anybody had did one. In the pics of the article it was installed on the drivers side,is that a must do?
Reason I ask is that my SS airbox tubing and the AIR tubes are in the way if so.
It reads to be a really good way to go.

Re: I am a believer!! (DELTEQ)

I went home for lunch and followed their instructions. If I'm not mistaken it's only the stud that holds the grounds that is mounting the head while the other stud just sits there as a cushion so to speak. Didn't like that so I put the stud through the other hole to the opti box then a nut and tightened it down then scred it into the head. Gave me the 1/2" gap you were referring too.

Lot of people are getting it. Easy install and clean looking and works. Little more cranking time but I'm not picky as long as it works! I got a pic here you can view.

Re: I am a believer!! (DELTEQ)

Hi Guys,
I am glad you all like the product and see the value of the system.

Yes buying the bare bones system is nice and will save you a few bucks but, I must warn about putting a used module and coils … if they are bad and take out the system I can not warranty the product (9 times out of 10 used coils and modules will have no problems. I thought I would put it out there as a disclaimer).

Stage 2 oh boy ! yes …..I must get asked that question about 20-30 times a day … I am sorry guys but I hope you can understand I am unable to talk about it at this time trust me it's like a fire under my butt and want to run around and scream but for know I have to zip my mouth trust me once things are in place all of you will hear about it and for my pre-existing customers will have first dibs and will receive a special price.

Thx Jim
Also check out the Delteq install page in the signature

Hi sorry i think you got the wrong idea.. I will cover the Delteq units for 1 year if there is a defect with our product but I can not cover any damage that was caused by a coil pack system purchased separately. (If that was the determining factor of a malfunction)
