Hypertech shift points question (A4)

I was just wondering if I should make any changes up or down with my hypertech programmer to my shift points?

My car is basicly stock except for the usual bolt-ons that most people do, no internal work has been done or power adders.

In my opinion, there is no need to make it pull higher if it runs out of pulling power before the 5700 (factory setting) mark, right?

The only real way to see if it is of any benefit for your particular car, would be to play with it at the track where you could get good comparative test results.

Re: Hypertech shift points question (A4)

My past experiences with raising the shift points is actually slower times for me. However, when I race the eigth, my car always shifted into 3rd about 50 feet before the end so I raised my shift point to make sure it stayed in 2nd all the way through the run. I gained a little time doing that but I really think that is because it was staying in gear instead of shifting. I doubt you will gain anything raising the points with a stock motor, but as shoebox said, the only real way to figure out is to do some testing at the strip.
