What red 95 said is that hypretech when used on one car it will lock it's vin number from the pcm so that you can only use it on one car. Now if that person clear all the memory from the hypretech then it can be used again.

It is indeed vin # locked unless you go back to stock programming, then you can use it on another car.

Lookin' for one? I just happen to have one for a '94 Z at my house. Fresh battery, cable, instructions, in the original box for ya for $150 shipped.

a 94 will work on a 95 that is OBD1 equipped, though I think the 95 OBD1 has the OBD2 style connector so you will need an adapter. Also some 95's (Cali emissions) were OBD2 I think. So you'd have to check those out.

That's not correct...the 95's all have OBD-I, just the OBD-II connector as you pointed out to begin with. The only difference with the CA-version 95's were on the A4's, and they got dual cats...but still only one O2 sensor per cat. The M6's are single cat regardless of area sold in.

To answer the original question...the 94/95 HPP's are generally interchangable, but since there were several versions of software over the years, you're best off to get the correct one. As others pointed out, unless the owner of the HPP removes the Hypertech programming from his car completely, you will not be able to use it on another car.

Re: hypertech programmers interchangable??

do i really need an adapter if the 95 is OBD1? i looked up the part #'s on the programmers and the '95 camaro/firebird also fits '94 vette.

part #'s in the summit catalog:

hyp-34(0)752 '94 camaro/firebird LT1

hyp-34(5)752 '95 camaro/firebird-'94 vette

anyone know what the difference is between these two?

also the guy who has the programmer never used it so i guess there's hope!!

edit: sorry, guess we both were typing at the same time(didnt see last post)

The HPP is the same for 1994-1995 LT1 f-body and Corvette, but you must have the correct cable to use it on a 1995 f-body (because of the OBD-II shaped DLC).

Im buying a hypertech programmer 345752 for 95 lti camaro vette94/95 it has the obd2 connector for obd1 . My 94 camaro has the obd2 port.so my question is will this work as long as the hpp connects to the obd2 port on my car? Or will the programming not work with the ecu?

Talk about bring up an old thread. I would really stay away from the programmer, it's old technology and over price for what it does. Do a search for local programmers were you can do much more stuff for less money.

How does your 94 have the OBD-II port? It did not come that way from the factory. Really, I would heed Fuels94TA's advice.

The HPP is so limited in terms of what you can do with it. For the price, you are better off grabbing Tunercat. $160 for the basic kit, which leaves you room to tune for any future mods. There are other choices as well (LT1 Edit, Tunerpro), all of which are more useful than the HPP.
