I bought a used hpp and it is coming with a powerscan cartridge.
Read somewhere that the cartridge is vin locked but of course the programmer isn't .Is this true or does the powerscan work on any car of that year just like the programmer.I am not overly worried if the scan cartridge is no good for me as have autotap and might get lt1 scanmaster.

 

I would say the opposite. The programmer is VIN locked (to the extent that you can use it on only one car at a time), but the scan cartridge may be able to be used in any programmer. I really don't know much about the scan cartridges.

 

My HPP+ scans the VIN, but my cartaridge is only read by serial number.
