I just wanna know what these black pieces are used for and if they're needed!

I believe those black pieces seat the HydraRev springs against the lifter body. So, yeah, you need them!

You can also run more valvespring pressure with the Comp R vs. stock, which would usually eliminate the need for the HydraRev.
