A "Hydra-Rev" consists of 2 aluminum bars, 8 lifter retainers, and 16 springs. The bars rest under the top of the heads, in the lifter valley. The 16 springs rest in them, and put pressure on the lifter retainers on the other end. This puts spring pressure on the lifter bodies, which helps keep them in contact with the cam lobes at high RPM's. The kit essentially prevents "valve float".
I've got an AFR Hydra-Rev in mine. I did it for "insurance" purposes. The theory behind it seems to make sense. I wish someone would try one on a dyno engine just to see if it's actually working.
