HV Oil Pump = trouble

Well they say a pic is worth a thousand words.

I picked up a 96 T/A a few years back and rescued it
from it's previous owner.

The motor was a reman and it was leaking from every gasket.
So i pulled the motor out and resealed it.

While I was in the motor I noticed that it had one of those revised
casing Mellings oil pumps that are famous for braking and falling in the pan.

To my knowledge the only way around the new casting was to use the HV pump that still used the old casting so I changed the pump to the HV model.

30k miles later this is what I'm blessed with.

If there is a better gear out there let me know.

Get rid of the HV pump. Seen too many threads just like this. Melling Select is what you want (like 10554 SV pump with good casting).

Don't know for sure if the gears are swappable. Someone else might.

A stock chevy distributor has a different shaft diameter, so the gears aren't interchangeable.
