Hugger headers on LT1 engine?

Installing a 95 LT1 in a streetrod and remember reading something a while back that certain hugger headers won't work on the aluminum angle plug heads. Anyone run into this?

(BTW: I'll run O2 sensors in the collectors)

Pacesetter or Mac headers worked great on my 95. Nice and tight to the engine if that's what your looking for.

Re: Hugger headers on LT1 engine?

I bought a couple of sets of stainless huggers on eBay a while back. I'm sure they are Chinese..have a set on my 33 Chevy -no problems at all with them. They look like no problem bolting them up....just trying to line up parts for this 37 Chevy.

Thanks
Ed

The lt1 are D Shaped Ports and the huggers are round. Not sure if you could still use them or not.

Dont have an answer for your question but keep in mind being able to change plugs. Not long ago someone posted having to remove a header to change plugs(terrible). Could always fab up some zoomies. Are you sure none of the popular ones will fit the bill for you. I went kooks longtubes and very happy and can get my plugs pretty easy for what its in. The as & m mids were my second choice and they may be worth a look. Good luck and post up some pics when you get her goin.

Re: Hugger headers on LT1 engine?

It really depends on the angle of the primary tubes on the headers. Sometimes they fit, sometimes you can get away with using a shorter plug. Sometimes there's no possible way to make them fit.

Check Sanderson's website. They usually publish the dimensions of their header/manifolds so you can measure and see if they will fit or not. I have a set of their 1 3/4" S10 conversion headers on my Dart headed 350 that they said wouldn't clear angle plugs and they fit fine.

Re: Hugger headers on LT1 engine?

I just need to remove the cast iron units and try the huggers...using my eyes to estimate..I don't see a problem.

Didn't know that the LT1 had D Shaped Ports

Thanks for the responses..I'll be working on the wiring harness first..

You have 'D' shaped primaries? I sure don't
