Huge stumble every once in a while?

Every once in a while when i come to a stop my 95Z idles real low around 450-500 and it feels like its gonna die. Once i start moving the car feels fine though. I believe it is something electrical because once in a while when it is stumbling then all of a sudden it will run perfectly normal. I'm thinking its the opti but im just looking for some more ideas. I replaced the plugs and wires but it didnt fix it at all. Another thing that is confuses me is the other day when i pulled in my driveway it started doing it so i let it run for a minute with the hood popped. After about 30 seconds or so i noticed something smoking coming from behind the intake manifold. I have never noticed this before so i dont know if it has anything to do with it or not but i havent seen it smoke since. Any ideas? thanks, Jeff

Re: Huge stumble every once in a while?

Thanks for the reply, Over the winter last year i had the intake off to powdercoat it and while it was off i cleaned up the whole TB including the IAC, and i reset the intake with the copper sealant stuff. I felt behind it and i didnt feel any oil or anything. I will take the IAC out again. Is there any way of testing it to see if it sticks or binds in a certain posistion?

Re: Huge stumble every once in a while?

Could it possibly be the EGR valve sticking? I was looking through some of the things on shoebox's website and noticed that if the EGR valve was bad it would cause a rough idle and surges when driving.. i get both. I guess i will check both of these out tomorrow. Thanks

its a 95 Z28 so i got OBDI.. I dont get any SES lights or anything for it, but i dont know what would throw a code on these cars anyways. If it ever stops raining up here i will try to go check a few things out... thanks again for the replies

Re: Huge stumble every once in a while?

Just as an update, it did turn out to be the EGR valve was sticking. I replaced it and it runs great now, no problems. Thanks for the help though -Jeff
