Is the HPPIII worth $250.
Definetely not. If you decided you really want one, just wait until you see them in the for sale section for $130-$150. Don't worry, the difference isn't significant enough to be rushing and paying $250.
I've never used one so I don't want to talk a lot of smack, but it doesn't seem like its worth the money, especially for what it does. You can get a cable to connect a PC to your car for ~$70 or so and then free scanning software, and editors for cheaper than the HPPIII. If you're not into editing your own car, custom tuning is cheaper than the HPPIII still.
don't waste your money, spend the 300 on pcmforless you'll notice a huge difference pluse you get like 115.00 back for you core.. Using pcmforless you'll be to have many more changes then the HPPII can give you.
I bought mine about 3 years ago for gear change, fan/therm change but I never installed the program due to bad press. I just went to the dyno last week and did a run with and without the power program and got 5hp and 4.5 torque with it installed, do what you will with the info...
