Cool Hp on a budget? if thats possible

My pops & I just got a 96 formula w/24k mi for 9 grand. man this thing is fun. Now blasting through chicago traffic is no problem. But in a city chock full of forced air induction imports, a stock LT-1 simply isnt goin to cut it. I have absolutely no problem with the gaggle of wannabe's out there but if you guys could throw some links my way and maybe some good advice i could show a few people what a good ol american V-8 is capable of. Our budget is 1500 bucks to start with and it looks like ive got a lot of reading to do in order to figure out exatly how to spend it.

Welcome to the board.

First, is the car an auto (a4) or a manual (m6)? Do you know what kind of gears you have?

Second, I would start with a cold air intake (cai), then look into headers, gears, and 1.6 roller rockers (rrs). Maybe a nitrous kit? A computer tune? There's a lot to do.

Some good websites are:

www.ls1speed.com
www.thunderraing.com
www.pcmforless.com
www.jegs.com
www.summitracing.com

Only sites I order from. Feel free to PM me anytime. You will find that there are many on this board that can answer almost any question.

BTW: a stock LT1 with a good driver will hang with A LOT of those FI imports.
