Question How would a Comp Cams XE230-236 work for my application.

I have a 97 Z with many bolt-ons, including a 150 shot of nitrous. I will be installing, ported and polished LT4 heads and intake, 1.6 RR, "R" lifters, 987 springs. I runs the nitrous maybe 2-3 per month and will probably make 3 trips to the track per year. The car is mostly a daily driver. Will the XE230-236 be a good streetable cam and have good response to the nitrous. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Here are the spec on the cam:

I E
Adv Duration 282 288
Dur @ .050 230 236
Lift w/ 1.6 .544 .555
LSA 112

The more i drive with this cam the less i notice i have it. I use to think it was almost unstreetable at times when the cam was new. I have been running stock gears, that will change this weekend though. I hope that adding 3.90's will take care of any cam surge i had, and help get it into the power range quicker. I can't answer the nitrous i don't run it and my cam is on a 112 so i don't think it would work to well.

I have that cam in a stock bottom end car with ported LT1 heads. It is absolutely fine as a daily driver. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it in stop and go LA traffic. About the only difference with stock is an occasionaly bit of cam surge at low RPM and load, such as when coasting in gear. It's really minor. I have to rev it to about 1500 RPM when starting, otherwise it bogs a bit, but again not bad.

Overall, the cam feels more or less like stock until you get above about 3500 rpm, then it pulls like mad. In first gear (and a bit in second), the stock tach can't keep up, since it revs so fast.

I like it....its very streetable with some tuning....remember youll be NA 99.9% of the time so NA should be your primary concern so I belive its a great choice. It has enough split to make the most of juce as well.

I love my 230/236 but with the 112 duration you'll be bleeding off some of that nitrous off.
