How to turn over engine?
Ok... say you pull the hub off the crank at 12 o'clock and then you pull the timing cover off and find out that the hub was previously installed incorrectly. At this point how do you crank the engine over to get to cylinder 1 at TDC?... I already tried pulling out the plugs and then trying to turn the engine at the flywheel but trying to push the flywheel by the ring teeth with a large screwdriver didn't work too well and I can't get the torque converter cover off all the way (without removing a header) to try and just turn the flywheel with my hands.
Can I just put the crankshaft hub bolt back in without the hub and then turn the engine over to get it back at TDC on cylinder 1 and then just throw a strap wrench over the end of the crank shaft (to hold it) and pull the bolt back out???

Ideally a crank turning nut, but I'm assuming you're not looking for that answer
Put the bolt back in with some washers underneath and meatspin the engine. Once you get it where you want try holding the crank like you said and put the bolt back on. If you can't hold it, just make some kind of mark to reference on the crank to put it back on at 12 oclock. An impact wrench to get it out would work well also.
