How to "trick" the oil dummy light in the dash?

My new Milodon pan doesn't have an oil level sensor provision.. no biggie I check my oil regularly given the nature of the car.

How do I trick the dash light aside from taking the bulb out? Can I drop a resistor of a certain value into the pigtail?

Couldnt the ressistance be measured from the sensor itself then duplicated with a resistor?

Yah, I guess I could just dip the thing in oil? I don't see a float of any kind on it, so it must work that way.

I think it's a "straight to the dash" sensor, doesn't go to the PCM. Kinda like the coolant temp sensor on the driver's side head is.

I think most people just cut the plug off and connect to two wires.

So that means "oil full" is a reading of 0 resistance I take it?

What i did was i just took a resistor i had laying around and stuck it in the plug. It worked, it was one of the ones i had laying around from trying to desensitize my knock sensor from years ago.

The "sensor" is not really a sensor, it's an on-off switch. Shorting the wires together will cause the light to stay off, just like Shoebox said in the other thread.
