How tight should cam rataining bolts be?

I was trying to take those two bolts on the retainer for the cam off with a T27 torx bit today and the sumbitch broke. I went and bought another torx bit and it once again broke. I assume those bolts aren't supposed to be THAT tight. I figure, maybe 5lbs of torque?

its like 100 inch pounds, so just a few foot pounds of torque will do it. and you need the t30 not t27

I believe it's like 8 lB, but stuff like that I think hand tight it better until you feel its good, I'd torque it and then try it by hand if you've got a feel for these things.

that sheds some more light on the situation. I assure you that those bolts that are on there are T27, not T30. T30 didn't fit at all.

Is it even possible to have used different bolts than those that were made for the application?

Its possible. Anything's possible. T30 would be the correct size but if its a different size and working fine, I wouldnt worry too much about it. As long as the retainer is on there and staying on.
