How to test for bad PCM?

Other than send it to Alvin or swap out PCM's is there any way to check if it's bad? How about checking the ground wire for the PCM?

I beleave the standered is 3 errors, i.e it show a ses code for something and you prove that it works.

The easyest way would be to swap in a known good one.
