How to tell what year a PCM is from

How to tell what year a PCM is from

I all,

I have a swapped car with an LT1 but I am not sure how to figure out what year PCM I have. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

What the number of the PCM??? IE: 16159278 for 93Z, 16188051 for 94Z

I went out and checekd and here is what it says on the PCM:

16188051
BMFN
86BMFNK142358PSS

And I guess that means it's a 94 PCM.
Are there pros and cons about these PCM's from year to year?

93s use an EPROM and is OBDI
94-95s are "flashable" and are OBDI.
96+s are "flashable" and OBDII.

94-95s use the same PCM.

Thanks a lot for the information. I appreciate it. I am now going to start looking for a code scanning and full tuning software package. I have a lot of reading to do.
