How to tell if a lifter is collapsed when it is out of the car
Same friends car we had problems before- a little ticking noise from valvetrain after the engine warms up.Rockers were reajusted, so they fine. Looks like it may be a collapsed lifter. I still have my old set of stockers that were good before removal, so we just gona put them in. By the way, at gmpartsdirect stock lifters cost $23 a piece, not $23 for eight.
I was wondering if there is a way to tell if a lifter is collapsed when it is out of a car? Also is there a way to check cam lobes when lifters are out through lifter valley?
We bought used EX 224/230 that had a little surface rust on cam lifter lobes(posted before if it was OK to use it) We polished the lobes good, could not even feel with a nail a scratch; However, there still could be a possibility of a bad cam lobe. Could we see lobes with intake off and lifters out?

ttt
I know there are some cheap guys who just replaced a single lifter on this board. Is there any way to tell if a lifter is collapsed/damaged when it is out of the car. What should I be looking in used lifters when inspecting them
