How to strengthen and make your car last.

Anyone have any good suggestions on making my 94 z28 with an a4 2:73's last? I am working on getting mods that will not compromise strength and gas mileage. just some bolt-ons (cai,tb bypass, 160 thermostat, headers, high flow cat&muffler, shift kit, and maybe 2400 stall conv which will hurt gas mileage a little but might be worth it. I'm not worried about the engine but the tranny and rear is what I'm asking about. Thanks much for the help. oh yeah I've seen alot of swaps to th400s and other trannies not to start a controversy but why will the 4l60e not hold up?

in most cases the 4L60 will holdup just fine really.. But like mostly any other stock tranny out there.. They will eventually bite the dust.. best bet is to get a upgraded 4L60 from a reputable builder that has done a few for people on here whom have had exp. with.. As far as making the tranny last.. A nice sized tranny cooler will help things along nicely and will extend the life of your tranny considerably..
