How to Siphon Gas!?

How to Siphon Gas!?

I know for a fact I have a LOT of water in my gas tank. How would you siphon gas out of a 96? There is something blocking the neck of the tank and I can't fit a tube down there because of it. I'm wondering what exactly is the next safest step in this procedure.

I've done it many of times. You need to get a small hose about 1/2 in. in diameter. Make sure its slightly hard plastic but flexible. Once you get it in there and it hits the stopper, twist and turn the hose as you push until it goes in. The blocker is only a thin metal that crosses the hole. Make sure you don't go too far in and hit the pump. The hose might get jammed into the pump. Don't ask me how I know. Anyway, that will do it. O yeah, Once you get into the gas, cover the inlet to the tank with a rag around the hose and blow hard. Putting pressure into the tank will cause it to push back out beginning you syphon.

Anyone know the actual potential damages of water in the tank? I know there was about half a gallon with about 8 gallons of gas in there, and the car misfired and sounded like death until it just gave up and won't start. I drove the car less than 1/4th of a mile and let it idle for about 10 minutes total. I hope I didn't ruin anything.

Going to try and siphon it tommorow

How will I know when I'm sufficiently low enough in the tank? Doesn't the water settle at the very bottom? How could I determine if I'm touching the bottom, is there a safe way to go about that?

Any type of drain plug?

Recommend replacing fuel filter?

Any further help would be lovely, especially regarding if it is possible to get any water that could have gotten into other parts besides the tank, and how much dry gas / fresh gas should I be putting in after draining the tank.

There's also a test port[wire connector that sticks out of the loom by the computer, psgr side near firewall of engine compartment] that you can use to energize the fuel pump[remove the filter, you are going to replace that anyway] and pump the fuel/water out thru the fuel line back by the tank..
after its empty, then I'd refill the tank, and take the schrader valve out[behind the intake manifold] and piump more out thru there to get as close to the injectors as you can with the fresh fuel..
Don't run that fuel pump dry tho.. you can burn it up that way..
