How do you mount the A4 shifter where the 6 speed shifter was there is a big hole? Thanks in advance

Have you changed the top section of the center console?

I bought that assembly for my A4 when I ground off the stop that locks out 1st on 2.73 geared cars. Ordered one for the performance axle option and it was $60-70 and took ten minutes to replace. This was just the shifter boot and gear indicator panel in the console. The shift lever itself would be a little more involved. Hope this helps.

Your going to have to weld or tack a piece of metal on there to have something to mount to.

Your best bet is to look here http://www.afrashteh.com/tranny_pics/ its the reverse of what your doing but it should show some pics of what you want it to look like.

I would say as long as its not flimsy and covers the whole, hole you should be fine. You then can drill the holes for the mounting screws etc...you do need to leave a circle though so that the shift linkage can come through.
