Re: How To Pull Powersteering Pulley

It's pressed on so it's gonna be a pain! Let me try to explain how I did mine.

I took the whole pump and put it in a freezer baggie of ice (making sure the shaft got iced EXTREMLY good). Leave the pump in ice for ATLEAST 30 minutes. When you take the pump out get a little propane torch and heat the pulley (try not to heat the shaft to much, but get close to the center of the pulley where it meets the shaft). After a little heat from the torch you "should" be able to put the pulley on 2 boards or something to hold the pump off the ground so you can tap the pulley off the shaft. Use a little common sense and tap the shaft while it's proped up by the pulley and it should slide right off.

It worked like a charm for me. Cold shrinks.........heat expands, all about the physics. Or you could take it somewhere and have it pulled off for a little $$, which ever you choose.
