How to prime oil on lt1 ?

I just had my LT1 motor rebuilt, and was wondering how do I prime the oil in the motor or do I have to at all.

355 lt1
11:2 compression
compcam # 07-503-8 @.050 224 230 .503 .510
stock lt1 heads mild port
forge piston and crank
6.00" I-beam rods

also could I use the stock injectors with this setup, or should I purchase a new set, and if I need a new set pls post spec.
The finale question will I have to worry about detonation on 92 octane fuel or will the tuning help with that

Thanks

Re: How to prime oil on lt1 ?

If the intake is on it,you just have to install it and crank it with the coil wire off to build oil pressure.

If the intake is off, pull the cam drive that turns the oil pump shaft and use a drill and a primer rod and spin the oil pump with the drill.

You could use stock size injectors (24 pd) with it but unless it's a low miles set up.I would change them.28 or 30 pd injectors would be good upgrades.

if your engine builder used actual assembly lube you would be ok just to start it. If not its best to prime it without cranking the engine.

I didn't even think about the assembly lube.Good catch. If it hasn't been to long since assembly the cylinder should have enough oil in them to crank it a few times, but its best to prime it first, even if having to pull the intake
